The Avocado, a Superfood Hero!

The Avocado has received a bad rap throughout the years, but this is one of nature’s nutritional powerhouses. Avocados contribute more than 20 different types of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, including vitamins B, E, and K, magnesium, potassium, and essential fatty acids. They also act as a “nutritional booster” by enabling the body to easily absorb fat, soluble vitamins, and contribute mono and polyunsaturated “good” fats to the body.

A one ounce serving is 50 calories with no cholesterol and 1 gram of dietary fiber, in other words, this is a great food for the entire family. So how does this translate for your tot, let’s have fun, mash it up for some yummy guacamole, smear it in a sandwich as a mayonnaise replacement, make sushi style avocado rolls, or mix it up with a banana for a sweet treat. The avocado is one of those wonderful constants that should be a main part of any healthy kitchen.
